Residents of Bondiway Community in Lower Margibi County have complained of the manner in which the magistrate at the court has been conducting himself and have called for his immediate replacement.
Magistrate Atty. Forkpah T. Zaizay is accused of adjudicating cases wrongly and at the same time exploiting complainants and defendants when cases are carried to the court for investigation.
The residents who spoke to our reporter last Thursday, claimed that Magistrate Zaizay was also in the habit of ordering “the unnecessary arrest and brutalization” of people, and that he has a very poor human relationship.
According to the angry residents, people were being arrested without a written writ; an act they referred to as practice of “jungle justice.”
More besides, they alleged that the magistrate was handling cases below or above his jurisdiction for financial reasons, adding “he is not only involved in bad judicial act, but has bad relationship with the people, especially in court chambers.”
They alleged that the magistrate has, on several occasions, abused people and incarcerated them for unjustifiable reasons.
As a result of these alleged actions coupled with others, the residents of the community want to be free from the magistrate by removing the nightmare.
But when the accused was contacted to respond to the allegations leveled against him, he threatened to jail the reporters who attempted to contact him if they were to step further in the court yard.
