At last, British Airways, one of the world’s leading airlines has finally started operation in Liberia. A press statement released over the weekend said British Airways will further strengthen its African network this winter when it begins flying to Sierra Leone and Liberia.
“This will bring to 19 the number of routes it serves from London to 16 African countries,” the statement said.
From Sunday October 29 it will operate three weekly services to Freetown. It will start operating to Monrovia via Freetown from November 5, reducing to two between December 10 to February 4, for operational reasons and reverting to three thereafter. The flights will all operate out of Terminal 5. British Airways will operate a Boeing 767 to Monrovia in a three-cabin configuration; World Traveller, World Traveller Plus and Club World.
Return fares from Freetown to London start from US$402 per person and from Monrovia to London start from US$402 per person excluding all taxes, fees and charges.
Ian Petrie, Regional Manager Africa, said: “We’ve been flying in Africa for over 80 years and the continent remains a key part of our global route network. We’ve really looked at where we can add value to our customers and are flying to the business and leisure destinations they’re demanding.”
