LNTTA Boss Amos Korvah In Handshake With the Deputy Chief of Mission At The Chinese Embassy Counselor Yang Jun
The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China has put smiles on the face of the Liberia National Table Tennis Association (LNTTA) ahead of the Chinese Ambassador Table Tennis Tournament, by donating sporting materials and at the same time re-committed its unflinching support to sports in Liberia.
The donation which included three (3) tables and 120 balls was made during the course of the weekend.
Presenting the material on behalf of the Embassy, the Deputy Chief of Mission Counselor Yang Jun expressed the embassy’s delight that Liberians are getting involved and interested in playing the game that is counted among popular sports in China.
According to him, the game of Tennis can contribute to the improvement of the relationship between the young people of Liberia and China, adding that China through its Embassy here will continue to aid sports in Liberia.
Putting the cost of material presented at US $3,000.00 and above, he also reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to maintaining the Ambassador’s Table Tennis Tournament which is held twice a year, with the final edition of this year is expected in December.
Responding to the donation, the President of the Liberia National Table Tennis Association, Amos Korvah, commended the Government and People of China for the donation which he said came at the time the association is dying need of such materials.
Mr. Korvah said the materials would help prepare the national table tennis team and the junior team for the pending international competition to be held in Liberia and promised to make the maximum use of the materials received from their partners in progress.
The Double Happiness Tables are intended to improve the standard of the game in the country.
The donation is just a continuation of the many supports the Chinese Embassy continues to give sporting associations and organizations in Liberia.
