At 3rd induction ceremony of the Liberian Refrigeration Air-conditioner Engineers and Technicians Union (LIBRAETU), Sete F. Marshall, Assistant Focal Point at the Environmental Protection Agency has commended the organization for upholding the trust.
Mr. Marshall who spoke on behalf of Earl A.R. Neblett, Focal Point of the National Ozone Unit of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said the election of each officer to serve in their various capacities is an indication of the confidence and trust reposed in new leadership to steer the affairs of the organization.
“I am certain that no member was coerced into voting for any one neither were their votes bought for a particular candidate”, the EPA Focal Point said.
Mr. Marshall admonished the new leadership to work along with the EPA and other stakeholders to ensure the growth and development of the organization `s human resource capacity.
According to him, in order to make the organization strong, viable and up to the task, the interest of the entire membership must be paramount, cautioning: “forget the past and forge ahead as what happened in the past where refrigeration and air-conditioning technicians and engineers were imported into the country to carry out work as simple as installing window and split air-conditioning units will never be repeated”.
The environmentalist pointed out that even though technicians are being imported into the country it has always been technicians on the ground that are hired to do the work as par excellence, performing exceptionally well.
“Is it that you do not need big money too to improve your standard of living; I do not think so; with a strong and vibrant union you can make a difference”, Mr. Marshall noted.
In his induction speech, the President Patrick D. Dennis said the day for Liberian technicians have come as his administration is poised to meeting the capacity need of the organization.
“Our administration will take this organization to another level by not only decentralizing but will construct an office space that will incorporate all of our members and affiliates”, the President pointed out.
He used the occasion to commend the Environmental Protection Agency for continued partnership in addressing the many needs of technicians in the sector.
Mr. Dennis called on all members of the union to join hands with the new leadership in overcoming the challenge of building the capacity of all technicians in the country.
The induction ceremony which was held on November 10, 2012 at the Newport Junior High School Auditorium brought together hundreds of LIBRAETU members from the sub-political division of the country.
