The Acting Manager of BIVAC International cautioned over 25 custom officers to use acquired knowledge following the completion of a weeklong training exercise held at the offices of BIVAC International in Monrovia.
Mr. Bocchard Fredric, who presented certificates to the participations at the close of the training, encouraged them to use acquired knowledge at the various workplaces.
The BIVAC’s Chief Executive who also served as trainer then extended commended the participants for partnering with BIVAC International in Liberia.
The five-day training exercise was intended to build the capacity and manpower skills of custom officers concerning the classification and harmonized system in order to be in line with WCO and other world trade organizations.
“Said training was provided by BIVAC International who accordingly has been contracted by the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Finance”, the BIVAC boss added.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Managing Director for BIVAC International, Henry Bernard said the presence of establishment in the country has generated and continues to raise more money for the Government of Liberia.
Though the BIVAC International Deputy Director did not mentioned the cash value both in United States or Liberian Dollars that have been raised by the company for the Liberian Government, Mr. Bernard said the objective of BIVAC is to help the Liberian Government raise more money for its (Government), revenue.
He also disclosed that the presence of BIVAC International in Liberia is a clear manifestation not only helping but to reduce what he calls “other invoices by importers and exporters”.
Mr. Bernard added that it is BIVAC International that helps the Government of Liberia to determine or decide on the actual prize of a commodity or commodities in order for importers and exporters to not cheat the Government.
But, Mr. Bernard noted that in the absence of BIVAC International or any other inspection company, the Government of Liberia would not have choice rather will agree to importers’ invoices.
Speaking further, the BIVAC International executive pointed out that if government accepts importers’ invoices, revenue intake intended for Government will definitely be reduced.
