Aries FC To Write History -As Int’l Tournament Returns To ATS.

At a press conference in Monrovia during the week, the President of Aries FC Lemuel Sherman disclosed that a five-day vacation tournament has been organized by Aries FC a second division club in collaboration with Liberians Diaspora International for the common purpose of raising funds in support of the construction of Liberia 1st football camp which if completed will be a historical landmark.

The club President said a piece of land about 4.23 acres was purchased in 1994 to be used as a football camp.

According to the founder of the Liberia Kickball Federation, the club is to shortly do the ground breaking ceremony of the facility that costs US$1.6 million; the Aries FC mini campsite is located in Soul Clinic in Paynesville.

Lemuel Sherman noted that the dream of the construction of a campsite which will include a playing pitch, training center, 30-bed room hotel came as a result of frustration experienced due to the manner in which George Weah and former teammates who he said, have refused to re-invest in the game of football after gaining prominence.

 

Sherman admitted that all teams earmarked for participation have agreed to make the tournament a success and while the playing pitch has already been arranged for the party.

He disclosed that there will be giant trophies for the grand finalists at the end of the showdown on December 30.

Aries FC revealed that there are affordable fees for entries to give sport enthusiasts all needed opportunities to support their respective teams.

According to him, around the field will cost L $20.00, stadium wing L$50.00, around VIP L$100.00 and VIP L$200.00.

The co-host Aries FC is noted for defeating top notch clubs in a competition which of late was proven.

Football devotees of Liberia will once again enjoy the festive season at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium when the weeklong knockout football tournament returns to the country.

The friendship knockout tournament which will run from December 26 to the 30th will feature ten clubs from 2nd and premier divisions with two teams from outside the country.

Teams expected for the tournament include: LPRC Oilers, LISCR FC, Nimba United, Aries FC (co-host) and LDI (co-host).

Others include Monrovia Club Breweries, Invincible Eleven, Senior Pros, Minnesota FC and BYC.

According to the fixture, LPRC Oilers will tackle Monrovia Club Breweries in the opening match on day one and Liberia premiership back-to-back champions LISCR FC and Invincible Eleven will close the day’s action at the ATS.

 

On day two, Nimba United  FC will come face to face with Senior Pro while Aries FC  will rub shoulders with USA based Minnesota FC and Liberian Diaspora International will climax the day’s action.

The quarter final matches will start on December 28 and the semi final battles earmarked for the follow day, with the grand finale slated for Sunday December 30, 2012.
