Land Commission Completes Validation Process; Submits Document To Executive Branch

The Land Commission established by an Act of the National Legislature on August 4, 2009 implementing a number of projects in consonance with its mandate and objectives, immediately following its launch, the commission has conducted consultations in all 15 counties, completed the land validation process and has submitted same to the Executive branch of the government for enactment into law.

Making the statement at the start of a two-day National Validation Conference held at the Centennial Memorial Pavilion on Ashmun Street, Dr. Cecil T.O. Brandy indicated that the conference at a national level seeks to foster a sense of ownership of the process to enable ordinary citizens representing cross section of the country to serve as champions in advocating for the policy.

Lofa County Warns Ellen, Boakai Over Plans To Turn Wologisi Mountains

To Investors Lofa County, once considered as Liberia’s only breadbasket because of its potential in food production, has registered unwavering opposition to plans reportedly being hatched by the government to turn over the Wologisi mountains range to an India company for operations.

A statement said the action is in line with reports that the government through its negotiators has begun serious discussions with a group of India for mining of iron ore from the famous Wologisi mountains located in Voinjama district, Lofa county.

The decision was reached by a cross section of all Lofa citizens from Medicoma to St. Paul River as well as all towns, villages, towns and hamlets during a meeting.

CDC George Solo in Ziah

The chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Mr. George Solo said Nimba County has not only done well politically but has achieved socio-economic status evident by the political platforms that the people of Nimba County have developed in recent past.

According to him, the five ethnic groups in the county have influenced the 1997, 2005 and even that of 2011 elections by coming out potential results during those elections years and is still seated in a better position to do same.

The CDC Chairman noted that party with the number of lawmakers representing the interest of CDC in the 53rd National Legislature, the leadership of the party will do all in its reach to lobby budgetary allocation in the 2013 budget to support the construction of the 52 kilometer road network.

Plan Liberia CLTS Program Benefits Bomi

Citizens of Bomi County have benefited from a week long Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) program organized by Plan Liberia in Tubmanburg.

At the training, the Food and Nutrition Manager of Plan Sierra Leone Mariama Munia Zombo encouraged participants to muster the courage to provoke communities to embrace the subsidy free approach to community development.

She revealed that several organizations including governments around the world have invested huge amount of money in constructing communities’ latrines that were left abandoned.

UNMIL Commander Identifies With Sinoe High School

The Commander of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) has donated text books on different subjects to the Sinoe County Multilateral High School in Greenville.

The donation, he said, is his way of contributing to efforts aimed at improving the standard of the school and the entire education system of the country.

The donation was made at Star Base on the Bushrod Island which is considered as the logistic headquarters of UNMIL.

Brigadier General Kasimu Ibrahim Abdulkarim said the gesture was in response to challenges highlighted by the Principal of the school Rev. David Worjoy Menjay during a tour to the company of the Ghanaian Battalion (GHABATT) 17 stationed at Greenville.
